Fowlerville baseball traveled to Novi High School, starting off the 2019 season! This year's invite only tournament featured a very competitive field. Including #1 Detroit Country Day, Novi, and North Farmington.
The Gladiators opened up their season and the tournament facing the #1 team in the state in D2, Detroit Country Day. A team that featured 8, D1 recruits (Vanderbilt, Nebraska, Boston College, BGSU, Duke) and Brandon Inge as an assistant coach. Fowlerville proved they were up for the challenge. Caden Flanery led the charge for the Gladiators on the mound, throwing a complete game. Flanery allowed 1 run, on 6 hits, striking out 8 along the way. The Gladiator offense battled fiercely at the plate all day, never giving up. Fowlerville pushed a run across in the 6th to tie the game and plated the winning run in the 7th to walk off the #1 team in the state! Final: Fowlerville 2, DCDS 1
Game two featured the Glads and tournament host, Novi. Fowlerville jumped out to an early lead and eventually secured the victory with a seven run seventh inning! The offensive onslaught by the Glads was led by JT Maybee, Kyle Lutz, Brian Hubert, Wyatt Daniel, Bryson Scott, and Christian Montrose. Sam Browne picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 strong innings. Joey Quigley came in to slam the door and give the Gladiators their second victory of the year! Final: Fowlerville 11, Novi 0
Game three vs North Farmington was a wild one! Between the two teams there were 27 hits and 26 runs scored. Luckily, Fowlerville's offense proved to be too much for the Raiders! JT Maybee led the charge with singles in the 3rd,4th,6th, and 7th innings. Every player in the Glads lineup picked up a hit on the day, after reaching base Fowlerville ran wild, stealing 12 bags! Aaron Robson picked up the win, limiting the damage against a very good hitting North Farmington team. Final: Fowlerville 16, North Farmington 10
With this weekend's wins, Coach Hunt and his staff surpass the 50 win milestone, just two games into their third season!
The Gladiators are back in action this Tuesday, April 9th at 4:00pm for their home opener against regional foe, Corunna.
