The Fowlerville Girls cross country team competed at the MHSAA Regional Finals on Saturday, October 31st at DeWitt HS. The girls finished 7th in the 8 team field. This wasn't the finish they had hoped for, but in a season of uncertainty one thing remained consistent and that was their hard work and dedication. These girls have worked together and put in many miles since the cancellation of spring sports. They've adapted through the many last minute changes and battled through some nagging late season injuries to always giving 100% effort. The highlight of the meet was the girls packed together well finishing with their lowest 1-5 time (difference in time between first and fifth scorer) of one minute and ten seconds.
The Lady Glads were led again by their senior captain Lilly Copeland. In her final race, Lilly finished 21st with a time of 21:06. Freshman Molly Kilpela scored next placing 31st with a time of 21:22, and sophomore Avery Copeland was right on her heels placing 32nd with a time of 21:29. Sophomore Annie Beach crossed the line next for the Glads in 37th place in a time 21:40. In the final scoring spot came Gabby Damerow placing 42nd with a time of 22:16. Allie Davis placed 49th with a time of 22:42 and Trisha Seiter placed 52nd in a time of 23:12 to round out the varsity team.
Congratulations to Lilly Copeland for an outstanding season and four year career on the varsity team. Lilly's leadership and dedication will be missed. Her leadership has been instrumental to the growth and success of the team. She motivates and encourage every teammate to perform their best every day. Best wishes in the future. You are a True Gladiator!
