The Varsity softball team defeated Fowler 3-1 on Thursday night in the semifinals of the softball Classic.
Leah Ash pitched for the Gladiators giving up 3 hits while striking out 9 Fowler batters. The Gladiators fell behind in the top of the 5th, 1-0. They answered back in the bottom of the 6th. Haley Curd led off the inning with a double, Lindsey Darby reached on a error and Morgan Byerle hit them both in on a shot to left center. Byerle also scored on a ball off the bat of Peyton Boden. The game ended on a picture perfect play with Fowler threatening to score. Fowler hit a line shot to right center that Byerle got to quick. Byerle hit Boden for the cut to home and Boden made a perfect throw to Darby who tagged the runner out at home ending the game.
The Championship game will be held on Wednesday the 29th at 7 PM at Ranney Park against Eaton Rapids.
