FOWLERVILLE HIGH SCHOOL TABS MATT COPELAND TO BE NEW VARSITY HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

It gives us great pleasure to introduce to Gladiator Nation Mr. Matt Copeland as the new Fowlerville High School Varsity Football Coach. Coach Copeland is a teacher in our district and has done a tremendous job in the classroom and on the athletic field.  Copeland takes over for Coach Jon Fletcher who was in charge of the program for the past 6 seasons. Fletcher was 22-33 over 6 seasons and was 2-2 in his playoff appearances. During the Fletcher, Bret Shrader and Jack Wallace eras, Coach Copland has served many different roles on the football staff. 

Coach Matt Copeland brings a high degree of knowledge to the Varsity Head Football coaching position. Copeland had been a member of the Fowlerville Football coaching staff for a total of seventeen seasons prior to his new position as head coach. Over those seventeen years of coaching high school football, he has coached numerous positions and he has held a variety of coaching roles. Copeland currently is also a member of the coaching staff for our track program and also served as the varsity Softball coach for 7 seasons.  

Coach Copeland has consistently challenged student athletes to be successful academically and athletically.  He has stressed and taught accountability, responsibility, technique, and discipline to all of his student athletes in all facets of their lives. In addition, he has emphasized the importance of teamwork, character and leadership development as well as communication skills.  He is extremely dedicated and committed to maximizing a student athlete’s potential both on and off the field.

Fowlerville Athletic Director Brian Osborn said, “We are extremely excited to have Matt leading our student athletes in the football program, his passion for Fowlerville is unparalleled. As we move into our 100th year of football at Fowlerville, I am confident that the knowledge and experience that Coach Copeland possesses will help our football program to continue to grow and be successful. Matt Copeland is a transformational coach who will prepare our athletes for game day but also for the game of life…I want to re-introduce Coach Matt Copeland to the Gladiator coaching family.”

On Friday January 6th at 2:00 pm (during 6th hour), players are invited to the High School cafeteria for a meet and greet. Coach Copeland will discuss his mission, vision and core values that will help continue Fowlerville Football on a path of success!
