Coaching: Sperry and Rickens tabbed to lead Gladiators!

Fall coaches tabbed to lead Gladiators!

The Fowlerville High School Athletic Department is proud to announce the hiring of Jason Sperry as the next Head Boys Varsity Soccer Coach and the return of Aaron Rickens as the Head Boys Cross Country Coach.

Jason Sperry - Boys Soccer:
Coach Jason Sperry will move from the Junior Varsity program up to the Varsity. Coach Sperry is a graduate of St. John’s High School; his playing days at St. Johns included being a part of a very successful athletic program. Sperry joined our Gladiator teaching staff in 2017 after time in the US Navy and teaching at Three Rivers High School.

Coach Sperry has a gift for developing talent and building positive relationships. Coach has a passion for teaching the game of life and knows how to effectively do so through the game of Soccer. Coach Sperry also leads our Varsity and JV golf programs in the Spring.

Brian Osborn, FHS Athletic Director, commented, “Coach Sperry will continue to build on the job that Coach Doug Jarvis started, an emphasis will be put on player development at all levels (K-12). His knowledge of the game, ability to provide the necessary in-game adjustments and the willingness to develop relationships will keep the future bright for Fowlerville Soccer!”

Aaron Rickens - Boys Cross Country:
Coach Aaron Rickens will return to Fowlerville High School to lead the boys cross country team after a year at Cleary University. While at Cleary, Coach Rickens was in charge of the Men’s and Women’s programs and helped produce the Universities first NAIA All-American!

Rickens previously led the Gladiator harriers and produced a program that was competing for CAAC titles and producing State Qualifiers. Rickens is an optimistic coach; always believing that he can find the “diamond in the rough” while also getting the best out of our fastest runners! Coach Rickens comes with an impressive history of running and coaching, he has coached at top programs (Avondale, Madison/Wisconsin and Grand Valley State) and ran for the GVSU Lakers prior to becoming a student-assistant.

Brian Osborn, FHS Athletic Director, commented, “We are extremely excited to have Coach Rickens back leading our boys cross country program. The year at Cleary will serve coach well, it has revived his passion for educational athletics and the students that compete for him will benefit greatly. Coach has a vision in mind for this program; his ability to build positive relationships will help us achieve that vision sooner than later!

Fowlerville High School is excited to promote Coach Jason Sperry and welcome back Coach Aaron Rickens to Gladiator Nation!

The Athletic Department is still looking for volunteers to help with our Varsity Girls Golf program, for more information please contact Brian Osborn at 517-223-6070 or osbornb@fowlervilleschools.org.
